In chapter 7 “Integrating and Documenting Sources,” they talk about two different types of citation formats. The most popular one that I am used to is MLA format but sometimes there will be a teacher who expects APA format. I think we can all agree that citations can get really annoying do not get me wrong there important but still very tedious. Citations are important in order to give credit where it is due. The reason they have specific formats is in order to make it easier for whoever is reading to find the article you sited. Because if everyone just wrote all the information in a different order they would then have to decipher where it came from. Or if they only wrote the name of the article without the author’s name that could cause some discrepancies also because there could probably be more than one article with the same name. which is the reason for the specific formats.
