Blog Post #1

Writers always have a target audience and therefore they will shape the way they write towards who they want to read it. Shaping your writing towards your audience is important because different people have different interests, so writers have to make sure that what they write captures their audience’s attention. For example if someone is writing a children's book they should include colorful pictures, instead of a book of straight words that a child barely understands.

Along with having an audience you have to be able to persuade them, which is where rhetorical appeals come in. Depending on what you're writing determines which type of appeals you will use more than others. For example if someone was to be writing to prove a weight loss drug works they would use a combination of ethos and logos. Because ethos is about the credibility of someone and logos is all about the facts.
